ACEN acquires 38 MW wind project in US

ACEN – offshore wind

In an attempt to strengthen its renewable energy (RE) portfolio in the United States, Ayala Group’s registered energy platform, ACEN Corporation, has acquired a 38 megawatts (MW) wind project.

Philippine Star reported that ACEN has successfully concluded a purchase agreement with EDF Renewables North America through partnerships with PivotGen and UPC Solar & Wind Investments LLC via UPC Power Solutions.

This agreement guaranteed the acquisition of lessee interests in the operational 38 MW Chestnut Flats wind project, situated near Altoona in Pennsylvania, with EDF continuing to manage and extend its operations and maintenance services for the project.

This purchase of UPC Power also strengthened its portfolio, now having 170 MW of RE under its belt, strewed across the US.

After achieving success in the Asia-Pacific region, ACEN had been considering expanding into the US as its subsidiary, ACEN USA LLC, partnered with Pivot Power and UPC Solar in April of 2022.

UPC Power Solutions CEO Tim Rosenzweig explained that this purchase agreement would not only open doors for economic opportunity but would also sustain jobs in the community, as well as diversify its number of wind projects.

Currently, ACEN boasts an attributable capacity of 4,500 MW from owned facilities spread across Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and India. It was also worth noting that the renewable share of this capacity stands at 98%.
