ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES) has disclosed that Schneider Electric has shifted five manufacturing facilities in the Cavite Economic Zone to operate on 100% renewable energy through a renewable energy supply agreement under the government’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).
The transition took effect in December 2025 and covers Schneider Electric’s office and production sites in Cavite, with the facilities primarily engaged in semiconductor manufacturing.
Under GEOP, electricity end-users with an average monthly consumption of at least 100 kilowatts are allowed to choose renewable energy suppliers and directly contract for power supply instead of sourcing electricity from their default distribution utility. ACEN RES said it currently holds a 57% share of the GEOP market.
ACEN said the shift to renewable energy avoids the equivalent of around 11,600 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
“This collaboration sets in motion our transition to 100% renewable energy at the Cavite Smart Factory — a bold stride in our journey toward Net Zero,” said Antonio Cheng Jr., Plant Director for Cavite Cluster, Schneider Electric Philippines, Inc.
“This partnership with Schneider Electric demonstrates how leading global manufacturers can actively advance the renewable energy transition in the Philippines,” said Eric Francia, President and CEO of ACEN. “By shifting complex industrial operations to 100% renewable energy, Schneider Electric shows that decarbonization is practical, scalable, and achievable today.”
As part of the move, ACEN RES awarded Schneider Electric its “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge, which publicly recognizes businesses and institutions fully committed to a 100% renewable energy supply. ACEN said the badge has been installed in close to 100 renewable-energy-powered facilities nationwide.
