Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) has joined forces with Ayala-owned ACEN Corporation to power its Mactan Economic Zone 2 plant entirely with renewable energy, building on the success of its Bulacan solar rooftop project.
Manila Times reported Ajinomoto unveiled its Renewable Energy Badge for the Cebu factory during a recent event titled “Powering Sustainable Tomorrows” at Dusit Thani Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City. The switch marks the completion of Ajinomoto’s transition to 100% renewable power across all its Philippine operations.
“Looking ahead, we aspire to further strengthen this mutually beneficial partnership with ACEN. Together, we have demonstrated that sustainability is not just an aspiration — it is a tangible reality. I am confident that we will continue to make meaningful strides in reducing carbon emissions and fostering a healthier planet for future generations,” said APC President Koichi Ozaki.
Ajinomoto’s full switch to renewable energy supports its global 2030 sustainability roadmap, which aims to cut environmental impact by 50% while improving healthy life expectancy for over a billion people.
ACEN’s Renewable Energy Solutions unit continues to grow its corporate customer base, working with companies committed to reducing their carbon footprint while ensuring stable and sustainable power supply.
“This collaboration reflects our purpose of ‘Eat Well, Live Well.’ It also supports Ajinomoto’s long-term sustainability goals,” Ozaki said.
The Cebu facility joins APC’s Bulacan plant, which shifted to solar power last year. The transition positions Ajinomoto as a leader in clean energy use in the Philippine food manufacturing sector, reinforcing its role in building a greener and more resilient industry.
