AyalaLand Logistics Holdings Corp. (ALLHC), Ayala Land, Inc.’s subsidiary focused on industrial estates and logistics real estate, has successfully transitioned its Artico Mandaue cold storage facility in Cebu to operate fully on renewable energy. This reinforces the company’s sustainability drive under the Ayala Group.
The switch was completed on July 26, 2025, through ALLHC’s participation in the government’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), which allows qualified power users to source electricity directly from renewable energy suppliers such as solar and geothermal.
“This is a major milestone for Artico Cold Chain and a concrete step forward in the sustainability journey of ALLHC,” said Robert S. Lao, President and CEO of ALLHC. “Our participation in the Green Energy Option Program not only demonstrates our commitment to a greener future but also enhances our operational efficiency. We are proud to be contributing to a more sustainable and resilient energy sector in the Philippines.”
By shifting to renewable energy, the facility is expected to cut its carbon footprint while also saving about 30% on monthly electricity costs. The move supports Ayala Land Inc.’s medium-term sustainability targets of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
Artico Mandaue is the second ALLHC facility to join GEOP, following Artico Biñan 2 in Laguna, which transitioned in April 2024. The company said it plans to transfer more of its logistics and cold storage facilities to renewable power in the coming years.
The initiative also aligns with the Philippines’ broader strategy of increasing the share of renewable energy in the generation mix and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, as mandated under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.
