Renewable energy developer Alternergy Holdings Corporation (Alternergy) is set to strengthen its presence in Quezon Province with the acquisition of two wind power projects from CleanTech Global Renewables Inc.
Under the deal, Alternergy’s special purpose company, Calavite Passage Wind Power Corporation, will take over the Tayabas North and Tayabas South wind energy projects, including their permits, project assets, and related contracts. Tayabas North is projected to have at least 96 MW capacity and was among the qualified bids in the Department of Energy’s (DOE) 4th Green Energy Auction earlier this month.
“We are excited to develop our second wind project in Quezon Province after our 64MW Alabat Wind Project is completed in early 2026,” said Gerry P. Magbanua, president of Alternergy. “The Quezon Provincial government led by Governor Dra Helen Tan has been proactive in attracting renewable investments in her province.”
Salvador Antonio Castro Jr., CEO of CleanTech, added, “We look forward to co-developing these wind projects with Alternergy, the pioneer in wind energy in the country.” CleanTech will maintain an equity stake in both projects and may further co-invest in the future.
The acquisition is being advised by Mabuhay Capital and remains subject to regulatory approval by the DOE. The move aligns with Alternergy’s roadmap to expand its project pipeline beyond its first 500 MW of renewable capacity, which includes ongoing wind, solar, and run-of-river hydro projects.
Alternergy, listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange since March 2023, has four projects currently under advanced construction, including the 64 MW Alabat Wind Project and the 128 MW Tanay Rizal Wind Project, both slated for completion by early 2026.
