Alternergy grants solar contract to JGC Philippines

Alternergy Holdings Corporation, through its subsidiary Solana Solar Alpha (SSAI), has awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to JGC Philippines, Inc. for a solar project in Bataan.

The Solana Solar power project has a capacity of 20 megawatts-alternating current (MWac) and is located in Hermosa, Bataan.

JGC Philippines, Inc. is the largest foreign subsidiary of Japan’s JGC Group.

JGC has experience serving various industries such as power, petrochemicals, petroleum refining, biofuels, and metal and minerals. In terms of solar power projects, JGC has successfully completed solar plants with a combined capacity of 800 megawatts (MW) and is currently building another one with a capacity of 170 MW.

“We are excited to move forward with the construction of the Solana Project, part of the Alternergy Group’s Triple Play portfolio,” Alternergy chairman Vicente S. Perez Jr. shared.

The public offering in March provided the necessary funds for Alternergy to fully participate in the Solana Project through equity. It also enabled the company to pay off its obligations for the purchase of the project site in full.
