Alternergy Holdings Corporation, via its subsidiary Alternergy Tanay Wind Corporation (ATWC), has entered an agreement with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to integrate the 100-megawatt (MW) Tanay Wind Power Project in Rizal into the grid.
In a report by Business World, ATWC President Knud Hedeager said that the interconnection agreement (ICA) between the energy firm and the systems operator (SO) provided an optimistic attitude towards promoting connectivity.
NGCP President and CEO Anthony Almeda also stressed that the SO would assist the Tanay Wind Power Project in providing considerable renewable capacity to strengthen the country’s energy self-sufficiency.
The interconnection agreement was signed weeks following the agreement for the 64 MW Alabat Wind Power Project in Quezon province.
The Tanay Wind project is slated to launch its development phase after it acquired the certificate of confirmation of commerciality from the Department of Energy (DOE).
Furthermore, it had also secured and executed commercial contracts, including one for the delivery of wind turbines and another for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the balance of the facility.
With the company dedicated to concluding the wind project by 2025, Alternergy sought to advance its energy portfolio, comprising onshore and offshore wind, run-of-river hydropower, and solar, to up to 1, 370 megawatts (MW).
