Cebu-based AppleOne Group is diversifying its portfolio with new investments in renewable energy and healthcare, positioning itself as a key private sector player in sustaining the rapid economic rise of the Visayas and Mindanao (VisMin) regions.
Through its renewable energy arm Astronergy, AppleOne is rolling out its first solar farm in Zamboanga del Norte. The project, backed by a power supply agreement with the Zamboanga del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ZANECO), will provide clean power to the local grid while supporting the country’s target of 35% renewables in the energy mix by 2030.
AppleOne Medical Group is also modernizing regional hospitals to reduce dependence on Metro Manila for advanced care. Its portfolio includes the redevelopment of VisayasMed Hospital in Cebu, upgrades at United Shalom Hospital in Tacloban, and the operation of Brokenshire Medical Center in Davao.
The company continues to expand its hospitality footprint with Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort and the upcoming Mahi Center in Lapu-Lapu City, which will feature office, retail, and hotel spaces. AppleOne is also building new projects in Bohol and Cagayan de Oro under JW Marriott and Radisson Blu.
“We have always believed in the strength and potential of VisMin. By investing in world-class hospitality, healthcare, and energy, we are ensuring that growth in the region is inclusive, future-ready, and value-creating not only for our company but for the communities we serve,” said Ray Go Manigsaca, President and CEO of AppleOne Group.
Central Visayas led the country’s growth in 2023 with a 7.3% gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increase, while regional tourism revenue almost doubled in 2024 to PHP 125 billion, supporting 1.5 million jobs.
“Our focus is on bringing globally recognized brands into high-growth destinations across VisMin, where demand continues to outpace supply. With our current developments and those in the pipe, we aim to set new benchmarks for luxury while unlocking long-term value for our stakeholders,” said Sam Manigsaca, Vice President for Hospitality.
“As VisMin cements its role as a growth center, AppleOne is proud to be a partner in progress and we will ensure that world-class living, care, and opportunity are no longer concentrated in the capital, but shared across down South,” Ray Go Manigsaca added.
