Basic Energy Corporation will be allotting an initial budget of Php31 million for its 50-megawatt (MW) Mabini Wind Project in Batangas, which will begin construction soon.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday, the company said its board has approved the project’s Wind Resource Assessment.
“Discussions with the landowner upon which the met-mast will be installed, as well as coordination with the Local Government Unit of Mabini for the necessary permits and licenses is also being done,” the company added.
The project will cover a 4,860-hectare land in Mabini, Batangas, a peninsular town between the Balayan and Batangas bays. The site receives wind speeds of up to 35.1 kilometers per hour, according to the Global Wind Atlas.
The Department of Energy signed the project’s Wind Energy Service Contract in March 2021.
The Mabini Wind Farm is expected to begin commercial operations by 2027.
