Berde Renewables signs 8.4-MWp solar PPA with KCC Malls, Biotech Farms in Mindanao

Berde Renewables has signed an 8.4-megawatt-peak (MWp) solar power purchase agreement with KCC Malls and Biotech Farms to supply clean power to KCC Mall Gensan, KCC Mall Marbel, KCC Mall Zamboanga, and Biotech Farms’ agro-industrial facility in South Cotabato.

Under a zero-CAPEX model, Berde will finance the systems and handle EPC and long-term O&M. Once operational, the installations are expected to generate ~13 million kWh of clean energy annually, deliver an estimated PHP 5.8 million in monthly power savings, and offset about 9,600 tons of CO₂ each year.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to making renewable energy a core part of KCC’s growth and modernization,” said Arvin Chan, CEO at KCC Malls. “By integrating clean energy into our operations, we are elevating our standards in retail sustainability while ensuring that our malls remain resilient, efficient, and aligned with the long-term needs of the communities we serve.”

“At Biotech Farms, sustainability has always been central to our operations. Adding solar energy to our agro-industrial facility further strengthens our commitment to circular economy principles while ensuring stable, cost-efficient power for our business,” said Rainnyl Chiang, Renewable Energy Director at Biotech Farms, Inc.

“Berde Renewables has been building momentum in the country’s clean energy transition, and today we are accelerating that shift to a new peak. We are honored that both KCC and Biotech Farms have placed their trust in us as their energy partner,” said Patrick Zhu, President and Co-founder of Berde Renewables. “This partnership shows how industries can work together to make renewable energy deliver real economic value and lasting impact for communities.”

Berde Renewables reports 45.7 MW of solar projects established in the Philippines, 31 MW under construction, and a 144 MW development pipeline. Regionally, it is expanding into Thailand with a 300 MW project pipeline. The company is backed by I Squared Capital, which manages over $50 billion in infrastructure assets.
