In support of the country’s commitment to reaching the renewable energy target by 2030, Sungrow, a global leader in inverter and energy storage solutions, introduced ed PowerTitan 2.0, its newest innovation in the energy storage systems (ESS) industry.

PowerTitan 2.0 is Sungrow’s newest cutting-edge liquid-cooled energy storage system tailored for utility-scale projects. With significant advancements over its forerunner, this ESS marks a pivotal shift in the energy storage systems sector.

The latest model can now accommodate a higher energy density, with a remarkable capacity of 5 megawatt-hour (MWh), all packed within a compact container, distinguishing itself from PowerTitan 1.0, which supported a modest 2.7 MWh.

“The best feature of PowerTitan 2.0 is you have a higher density of energy. In a 20-foot container, we manage to suffice 5 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity. And not only the battery cell or the batteries but also the Power Conversion System (PCS). It’s all in one container.” said Sungrow’s Director of SEA Emerging Markets  Kevin Guo.

The transition from PowerTitan 1.0 to 2.0 presented unique challenges in ESS, all of which have been successfully resolved in the enhanced 2.0 version.

PowerTitan 2.0 prioritizes safety by incorporating temperature, smoke, and combustible gas detectors. Additionally, the system features both water-based and gas fire suppression systems, and a fireproof bulkhead that can endure fire for up to 2 hours.

Another crucial improvement is the enhanced system efficiency in PowerTitan 2.0. It integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect system changes as Sungrow has developed its own Energy Management System, enabling complete plant control through software. This innovative approach significantly reduces system upgrade time to just 20 minutes.

Additionally, the latest storage solution now boasts a C5 corrosion rating, enabling its installation across diverse environments, withstanding varying temperature fluctuations, corrosion levels, and humidity. The system’s adaptability allows for practical installation in nearly any location.

The Power Titan 2.0 can also adapt and align with the grid standards set by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

As the use of energy storage products expands and the country aims to incorporate more renewable energy into the grid, there is a growing need for battery storage to reinforce the grid infrastructure. This is precisely why the PowerTitan 2.0 was enhanced to accommodate energy from diverse power technologies and systems.

“And since the country has a target of increasing the renewable energy in the power mix and the companies and power companies are supporting the target of the government, batteries are needed so that these renewable energy power plants can support the grid. I think that’s the most important part of introducing batteries to our power system.” Guo said.
