Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) has submitted a request to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to establish a point-to-point facility for connecting its 90-megawatt Lumbangan solar project in Tuy, Batangas, to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) substation.

Manila Standard reported that the suggested point-to-point infrastructure will connect the solar farm to the 69-kV Tuy substation of NGCP.

With its application, the company stated that it would finance the Php 462-million dedicated line, and this investment would not lead to any impact on regulated charges.

The company is also considering MN Electro Industrial Supply & Services Inc. as a potential contractor to provide the necessary equipment, materials, labor, and services for the completion of the facility.

Furthermore, CREC argued that it is in the government’s best interest to support RE developers in achieving commercial viability and begin its operations as soon as possible to support the country’s goal of a smooth transition.

CREC looks to complete the solar project by March 15, and the specialized facility by January 30, 2024, respectively. By April 8, 2024, commissioning and testing should start, with commercial operation expected to begin on June 8 of the same year.
