Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) has partnered with Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower) to enhance operational efficiency by transitioning three of its Mindanao manufacturing plants to the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program, according to the AboitizPower website. The shift allows CCEAP to choose its electricity supplier, reducing costs and enhancing energy flexibility.
The three CCEAP plants now operating under RCOA are located in Misamis Oriental, Davao City, and Davao del Sur. An additional facility in Zamboanga is also set to transition soon. By opting out of the traditional utility-driven energy supply, these plants gain the advantage of customized power solutions and the ability to tap into renewable sources.
CCEAP has partnered with AdventEnergy, a retail electricity supplier under AboitizPower, to meet its energy needs in Mindanao. AdventEnergy’s flexible contract terms and advanced energy monitoring tools allow CCEAP to track usage in real time and make data-driven decisions for efficiency improvements.
“We at Coca-Cola take pride in our resolve to deliver on our sustainability commitments throughout our manufacturing sites and in the areas where we know we have significant impact,” said Frank Garcia, Vice President for Supply Chain at CCEAP on the AboitizPower website.
“CCEAP is an active participant in the country’s energy transition. As partners in championing renewable energy, we share in AboitizPower’s goal to build an environmentally sustainable future for all,” he added.
The partnership with AdventEnergy also demonstrates the potential of RCOA in the Mindanao region, where it was only recently launched in March 2024. Gina David-Camacho, AboitizPower’s Vice President for Retail Energy Sales, emphasized the value of being among the first players to support the transition in the region.
Aside from Mindanao, CCEAP also operates five manufacturing facilities in Luzon and Visayas that are powered by AdventEnergy. The collaboration underscores CCEAP’s strategy to optimize its energy portfolio across its nationwide operations.
AdventEnergy offers customized solutions tailored to industrial and commercial clients, providing not only reliable power but also innovative monitoring and management capabilities. The retail unit, which serves over 500 facilities across the Philippines, aims to empower businesses to choose energy plans that fit their operational requirements.
The initiative is part of a wider goal to enhance energy efficiency and environmental responsibility across Coca-Cola’s operations in the Philippines. Through the RCOA program, companies like CCEAP are gaining more control over their electricity sourcing, helping them align operations with global sustainability targets.
