The following projects had been given the go-signal and will undertake studies: Currimao Solar Energy’s 150-MW Talisay Wind Power Project in Camarines Norte, the 140-MW Talim Wind Power Project in Rizal and the 80-MW Calatagan Wind Power Project in Batangas.
The DOE also gave the greenlight to three solar projects, including the 22-MW Capas Solar Power Plant in Tarlac to be spearheaded by Sindicatum C-Solar Power Inc.
Meanwhile, the other two, the 70-MW San Manuel 1 and 70-MW San Manuel 2 in Pangasinan will each be managed by Pilipinas Newton Energy Corporation and Pilipinas Einstein Energy Corporation, respectively.
Lastly, Negros Occidental’s Silay Global Energy Solutions has proceeded with the 30-MW battery energy storage.
The DOE has accepted 22 project applications for GIS clearance overall from January to March 2017 and could generate a total of 2,230.53 MW of installed power capacity.
Accomplishing the GIS is necessary for energy firms in determining if the electricity to be generated by a power project can be consumed by the grid.
