DOE Installs Solar-Powered EV Charging Station in Clark

The Department of Energy (DOE), through its Energy Utilization Management Bureau (EUMB), formally turned over a solar-assisted electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) to the Clark Development Corporation (CDC). This is in a move to support the government’s clean energy and e-mobility agenda.

Located at the Clark Museum Parking Lot in the Clark Freeport Zone, the solar-powered EVCS connects Metro Manila and Northern Luzon. This addresses a key infrastructure gap in the electric vehicle (EV) charging network. The project was implemented in partnership with the Philippine National Oil Company Renewables Corporation (PNOC RC) and CDC, under the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP).

The program aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance energy efficiency within the public sector. The DOE said the project also demonstrates the viability of renewable energy technologies in supporting sustainable transport systems.

EUMB Director Patrick T. Aquino, CESO III, led the ceremonial turnover along with CDC President and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera and PNOC RC OIC Vice President for Operations John James V. Salvo.

To date, the country has 1,062 EV charging stations installed in various facilities. Under the same project, two additional charging stations have been set up at the DOE–Luzon Field Office in Rosales, Pangasinan and at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

The DOE reaffirms its commitment to enhancing energy efficiency and conservation (EEC) in government operations by collaborating with national agencies and local stakeholders to push for clean, efficient, and reliable energy solutions.
