The Energy Task Force Election (ETFE), led by the Department of Energy (DOE), is mobilizing command centers and technical teams to maintain power stability across election sites, ensuring a reliable power supply during the crucial voting period.
On the eve of the 2025 National and Local Elections, the energy sector has heightened its alert status to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the Philippines.
Beginning today, May 11, 2025, the Energy Task Force Election (ETFE), headed by Undersecretary Felix William B. Fuentebella, will operate on a 24/7 basis. The task force aims to secure the electoral process by proactively addressing potential power disruptions during and after the polls.
The ETFE includes key government energy agencies, the private transmission concessionaire, generation companies, distribution utilities, and other relevant institutions. The task force is tasked with coordinating preventive measures and rapid response protocols to maintain stable power throughout the election period.
The ETFE has rolled out contingency protocols, completed readiness assessments, and confirmed the availability of sufficient power reserves. Command centers have been activated across the energy sector, including the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), National Electrification Administration (NEA), Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), and the DOE’s Energy Sector Emergency Operations Center (ESEOC).
These command centers, operating on a 24/7 basis until May 13, 2025, are equipped with real-time monitoring systems and analytics to detect grid vulnerabilities and enable prompt technical response in case of power-related incidents.
DOE Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla assured the public of the sector’s readiness, stating, “All hands are on deck. The entire energy sector is fully mobilized and working in full coordination to ensure an unimpeded and reliable power supply, along with adequate fuel availability, for tomorrow’s National and Local Elections.”
The DOE also calls on the public to immediately report any power-related incidents or outages. Public cooperation is vital to maintaining stable power and ensuring quick intervention if needed. For assistance, citizens are advised to contact their local distribution utilities.
As preparations conclude and operations commence, the DOE reaffirms its commitment to providing a stable and secure power supply to support a peaceful, credible, and orderly 2025 National and Local Elections.
