The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has approved the Energy Development Corp.’s (EDC) application in developing a dedicated point-to-point facility to connect the 31-megawatt (MW) Bac-Man 3 geothermal project to the Luzon Grid.
In the decision, the facilities would be constructed in accordance with the system impact study and facility study requirements to prevent the degradation of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines’s (NGCP) transmission system.
ERC has directed the NGCP to operate and maintain the dedicated transmission facility amounting to P130 million subject to application charges. They will also operate the facility “in the absence of a definite assurance that the subject facilities will be operated without any adverse effects to the reliability of the grid.”
