The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has approved three significant transmission projects proposed by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) amounting to approximately P38.09 billion.
In a report by Philippine Star, the ERC approved the P17.09-billion Bolo-Balaoan 500-kilovolt transmission line project, the P16.8-billion Northern Luzon 230-kV loop project, and the P4.2-billion Nabas-Caticlan-Boracay transmission project.
These initiatives aim to enhance the dependability and resilience of the transmission network in key areas across Luzon and Visayas.
The Bolo-Balaoan project will act as a key framework in the northwestern portion of the Luzon grid, facilitating the integration of offshore wind power and other planned renewable energy projects.
Meanwhile, the Northern Luzon Loop project focuses on improving the current transmission infrastructure and unlocking the energy generation potential of provinces such as Cagayan, Kalinga, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.
