The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) forged a partnership with Ateneo Law School to improve the development, implementation, and the sustaining of academic activities in the country’s power sector.

“As the sole regulator of the electric power industry, the ERC needs to keep itself abreast with the latest technologies and undertakes initiatives to enhance competencies of its staff and increase the knowledge base of all industry stakeholders,” ERC Chairperson and CEO Agnes Devanadera said.

To formalize the partnership, ERC and Fr. Joaquin G. Bernas, S.J. Institute for Continuing Legal Education– Ateneo Law will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The ERC and Bernas Institute will conduct joint symposia, trainings, seminars, workshops, and conferences through the ERC Academy Program.

The ERC aims to serve as a platform of capacity building through trainings and knowledge sharing for ERC personnel, other energy industry players, consumer advocates, and media practitioners who cover the sector.

The training program is connected with the Continuing Regulatory Education for the Staff/Stakeholders (CREST) of the ERC.

The ERC Academy envisions to conduct trainings in order to share knowledge within ERC which is seen to be both an in-house and off-site undertaking.

There are also training packages available for power industry players such as implementation of regulatory policies, new developments and innovations in power systems, demand and supply side management, and emerging technologies in the energy sector.

Certificate courses are also available in order to turn ERC officers and staff into empowered public servants.
