ERC Promotes Solar Energy, Awards Net-Metering Certificates in Ilocos Norte

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) showcased its drive for renewable energy adoption by joining the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installer and Local Government Units (LGU) Partnership Summit at Mariano Marcos State University in Batac, Ilocos Norte held last August 6.

ERC Market Operations Service (MOS) Director Sharon O. Montañer, outlined the requirements and approval process of the Net Metering Program, while simultaneously highlighting the organization’s work with LGU’s to convince more Filipinos to go solar.

As part of the event, Montañer handed out Net-Metering Certificates of Compliance (COC) to Qualified End-Users. These included such entities as the Department of Education (DepEd) Extension Office and the DepEd Schools Division of Laoag City.

The summit brought together people from all energy sectors to promote collaboration and solar PV adoption as well as Net-Metering implementation. ERC’s participation is part of its Continuing Regulatory Education for Stakeholders (CREST) initiative, which focuses on capacity-building and information dissemination on renewable energy policies.

The initiative supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to accelerate the country’s energy shift into renewables, improve electrification rates, and access to reliable energy.
