ERC Tackles Rate Reset, CAPEX, and Consumer Protection with PEPOA

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) welcomed officials of the Private Electric Power Operators Association (PEPOA) during a courtesy visit at the ERC Main Office on September 1, 2025.

ERC Chairperson and CEO Atty. Francis Saturnino C. Juan, together with Commissioners Floresinda G. Baldo-Digal, Marko Romeo L. Fuentes, Amante A. Liberato, and Paris G. Real, received the PEPOA delegation led by President Atty. Ranulfo M. Ocampo and representatives from member private power operators.

The meeting served as an opportunity to reacquaint PEPOA members with the new composition of the Commission and to gain a better understanding of policy direction under Chairperson Juan’s leadership.

PEPOA officials expressed their support for ERC’s programs and readiness to work with the Commission on advancing initiatives for the distribution sector. Discussions included the ongoing rate reset, capital expenditure applications, over and under recoveries, and past ERC issuances deemed vital to the stability and growth of the power industry.

The courtesy visit highlighted the importance of clear and consistent regulation in promoting transparency, protecting consumers, and ensuring reliable and affordable electricity delivery to households and businesses nationwide.

What measures do you think the ERC should prioritize to strengthen consumer protection while ensuring stability in the power sector?
