Retail electricity supplier (RES) EvoEnergi is reducing electricity costs for small and medium-sized businesses with its second Retail Aggregation switch, completed on March 5, under the government’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP). An affiliate of D&L Industries, EvoEnergi has successfully transitioned a group of businesses from the captive market to the contestable retail electricity market, unlocking significant savings previously reserved for large-scale consumers.
Introduced by the Energy Regulatory Commission, RAP allows multiple electricity end-users within a contiguous area or the same distribution franchise to pool their demand. This collective approach meets the threshold for the contestable market, securing lower rates and transparent terms. EvoEnergi’s latest switch aligns with a mission to democratize access to competitive electricity pricing, a cause it champions alongside the ERC and the Department of Energy (DOE).
“For many businesses, electricity is a major cost driver, but few realize they are overpaying,” said Julian Lao, President of EvoEnergi. “We help businesses achieve real savings, allowing them to reallocate resources to growth and innovation, instead of paying excessive electricity costs.”
Discussions are underway to lower the contestability threshold to 100 kW, potentially opening the door for even more businesses to benefit. EvoEnergi offers flexible solutions like tiered capacity increases and hybrid pricing structures, empowering businesses to align energy use with operational goals.
“Electricity procurement should be a strategic decision, not just another fixed expense,” Lao added. “Our goal is to help businesses optimize their energy use in a way that aligns with their financial and operational objectives.”
