Nearly 300 Filipino professionals have answered the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (ERC) call to strengthen the nation’s energy sector. The ERC’s initial recruitment drive for 64 contractual positions, launched to address critical staffing needs, has drawn 298 applicants as of May 2, 2025, highlighting a competitive race to join the agency’s mission.
The positions, part of 105 new roles approved by the Department of Budget and Management in March 2025, aim to bolster the ERC’s regulatory capacity amid rising demands in the energy sector. The applicant pool is dominated by candidates vying for roles in the Regulatory Operations Service (178 applicants, 60%), followed by the Market Operations Service (83 applicants, 28%) and the Legal Service (37 applicants, 12%).
“These new roles are critical to enabling the Commission to fulfill its mandate, especially in light of the growing demands in the country’s energy sector,” said ERC Chairperson and CEO Atty. Monalisa C. Dimalanta. “We are encouraged by the level of interest and turnout as this reflects the enthusiasm of Filipino professionals to be part of nation-building through the energy industry,” she added.
Beyond the contractual roles, the ERC has introduced five new permanent positions in the Financial and Administrative Service and the Planning and Public Information Service to enhance institutional functions. With applications outnumbering available slots, the ERC emphasizes a rigorous, merit-based selection process to align with its performance standards.
The Commission is now evaluating applicants and awaits Civil Service Commission approval for amended Qualification Standards to announce details for the remaining contractual positions. Updates on the recruitment process, including opportunities for the March 2025 permanent positions, are available on the ERC’s official website and social media channels.
