Jin Navitas Electric Corporation (JNEC), the retail supply arm of Solaris Energy, has signed a Retail Electricity Supply Agreement with Ateneo de Manila University under the government’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), making the university JNEC’s first customer under the scheme.
The ceremonial contract signing brought together officials from JNEC, Ateneo, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), and partner firms, including SolX Technologies and Joy Nostalg Group.
“This marks an important milestone for JNEC, as Ateneo becomes our first customer under the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP),” said JNEC President Sir Alfie Miras during the ceremony on November 28. While the agreement formally covers a two-year period, Miras said the company views the deal as “the beginning of a long-term collaboration.”
Under the agreement, a significant portion of Ateneo’s electricity supply will be sourced from renewable energy generated by Solaris Energy, JNEC’s parent company. Ateneo is currently being powered by clean electricity from the Solaris NING*NING rooftop solar project in Naic, Cavite, a grid-connected, utility-scale solar facility built on a socialized housing development.
The NING*NING project, developed by the Joy Nostalg Group, has received global recognition and was recently inaugurated in the presence of the President of the Philippines.
Through the partnership, JNEC said Ateneo will not only reduce its carbon footprint but also support Joy Nostalg Group’s social mission of “powering the powerless and homing the homeless.”
Among those present at the signing were Ateneo de Manila University President Fr. Roberto “Bobby” Yap, SJ; Vice President for Administration Rodolfo Ang; ERC representative Katerielle Cedeno; SolX Technologies CEO Sergious Angelo Santos; and Joy Nostalg Group Executive Officer Jacinto Ng Jr.
