The Makati Business Club (MBC) has expressed its support to the appointed energy officials in their plans to create an investor-attractive environment in the country’s energy sector.
“The country is facing a myriad of problems relating to energy, which is always subject to political, economic, and other headwinds. [Enegry] Sec. Lotilla, [ERC] Chair [Monalisa] Dimalanta, and [Transco] Dr. [Rowena Cristina] Guevarra are taking the right steps to ensure we have the energy to maintain recovery, accelerate growth, and provide more jobs and better lives for all Filipinos,” MBC chairman Edgar Chua said in a statement.
The MBC met with Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla on Wednesday, following recent decisions by both the Department of Energy and the Energy Regulatory Commission, including the approval of the sale of the 45% stake in the Malampaya Gas project.
MBC also welcomed the appointments of the new energy undersecretaries: Feliz William “Wimpy” Fuentebella, Sharon Garin, Alessandro Sales, and Giovanni Carlo Bacordo.
“We are excited that Rep. Garin, former Rep. Fuentebella, former Chief of the Navy Bacordo, and former Philodrill executive Sales will bring their knowledge and experience to the energy challenge thus ensuring the chances that the right policies and decisions are pursued to power the government’s economic plans,” Chua said.
