President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos jr. as stressed the need to reexamine the strategy of building nuclear power plants to help meet the growing power demand in the country
“I believe it is time to reexamine the strategy towards building nuclear power plants in the Philippines,” Pres. Marcos Jr. said in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.
He added that the country will comply with the International Atomic Energy Agency’s regulations in building nuclear power plants.
“In the area of nuclear power, there have been new technologies developed that allow smaller scale modular nuke plants and other derivations thereof,” Marcos Jr added.
Marcos Jr. added that Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) will play an important role in building new power plants in the Philippines as funding “in this period is limited.”
This is a developing story.
