The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has logged a rates decrease for June with a P0.1948 per kWh adjustment. This shows a total decrease of around P0.47 per kWh since May 2019.
From last month’s P10.2866 per kWh, the overall bill of a typical household consuming 200 kWh decreased to P10.0918 per kWh.
Other components decreased as well such as generation charge, which went down to P5.4158 per kWh.
The decrease is mainly due to lower charges from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), despite increases in the charges of Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and Power Supply Agreements (PSAs) by P0.0556 per kWh and P0.0717 per kWh respectively.
Transmission charge for residential customers went down by P0.0427 per kWh due to lower Ancillary Service Charges.
Meanwhile, taxes and other charges recorded a decrease by P0.0171 per kWh.
