The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and the Philippine Iron & Steel Institute (PISI) have partnered together in a strategic move to improve the country’s steel sector amid ongoing economic and geopolitical challenges.

In a recent meeting held at the Meralco Operating Center, high-ranking figures from both organizations discussed ways to enhance the local steel industry’s resilience and global competitiveness. The session was led by Meralco Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Manuel V. Pangilinan and PISI President Jojo Magsajo. Present as well were Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho and Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Ferdinand O. Geluz.

The dialogue focused heavily on PISI’s industry data and insights, paving the way for potential strategic partnerships and investments between the private power distributor and the steel sector.

The collaboration marks a significant step forward for stakeholders aiming to secure the future of one of the Philippines’ most important industrial pillars.
