One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Meralco, joined thousands of public schools nationwide in supporting the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela 2025 from June 9 to 13, ensuring school readiness and safety ahead of the academic year.
In support of DepEd’s flagship school maintenance initiative, OMF implemented its “Safe ang School Ko” program, deploying Meralco engineers and employee-volunteers to inspect electrical systems and prune trees near power lines in public schools. These efforts aimed to prevent potential electrical hazards and contribute to a secure learning environment.
During the Brigada Eskwela kick off held at Angono Elementary School, Meralco employees from the Angono Business Center and Rizal Sector conducted electrical assessments and distributed cleaning materials. Similar activities were carried out in Pasig City, Las Piñas City, Tondo and Sampaloc in Manila, and several towns in Rizal and Cavite including Taytay, Cainta, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Tagaytay City, and Indang.
“Taking part in Brigada Eskwela is an affirmation of our shared aspirations with DepEd. As Meralco employees, our values of bayanihan and malasakit actively build brighter futures, ensuring every learner can learn and thrive in a well-prepared and conducive environment,” said OMF President Jeffrey O. Tarayao.
In addition to its Brigada Eskwela participation, OMF also kicked off its annual *Balik Eskwela* campaign, which provides back-to-school kits containing reading and writing materials to kindergarten students in public schools.
