As Filipinos head to cemeteries and provinces to observe All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced today that it will remain on full alert throughout the Undas weekend, with response teams ready 24/7 to address electricity-related concerns.
“We are one with the nation in commemorating Undas,” said Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga. “While our Business Centers will be closed from October 31 to November 2, our social media channels and hotlines will remain open, and our crews are on standby 24/7 to immediately respond to any electricity-related concern.”
All Meralco Business Centers will reopen on November 3.
In anticipation of heavy travel and gatherings, Meralco also issued reminders to ensure electrical safety during the long weekend. The power distributor advised customers to turn off appliances when leaving home, avoid “octopus connections,” and keep cords, connectors, and wires dry at all times. It also reminded the public not to place electrical cords under rugs or carpets and to keep flammable materials away from lighting or heat sources.
Customers may report power concerns through the My Meralco app, Meralco’s official Facebook page, X (formerly Twitter) account (@meralco), or by texting 0920-9716211 or 0917-5516211. They can also call the Meralco Hotline at 16211 for immediate assistance.
