Meralco has restored electricity service to almost all customers affected by Severe Tropical Storm Opong, with only about 3,000 customers still awaiting reconnection as of 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The remaining affected customers, which represent less than one percent of Meralco’s total customer base, are mostly located in parts of Rizal and Cavite.
“We’re down to the last mile of our restoration efforts and our teams remain committed to bringing power back to all affected customers as part of our mopping-up operations,” said Joe R. Zaldarriaga, Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications.
Meralco crews and personnel have been conducting round-the-clock restoration work since the storm triggered widespread outages across its franchise area.
Meanwhile, One Meralco Foundation, the company’s corporate social responsibility arm, announced that it will be mobilizing relief operations in storm-hit areas to provide immediate assistance to affected families.
Customers may continue to report outages and other concerns through Meralco’s social media pages, hotlines, and text channels.
How do you think power distributors like Meralco can balance quick restoration efforts with long-term resilience in preparing for stronger and more frequent storms?
