The Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) is looking for bidders for the 180-megawatt (MW) baseload supply needed for this summer.
“This 180MW supply is meant to cover for the output of plants that are affected by Malampaya facility’s continued inability to supply adequate natural gas fuel,” the power giant said in a statement.
The power supply, which is set to undergo a competitive selection process, is part of the 350MW requirement Meralco needs to augment for the summer months.
Interested bidders can submit their Expressions of Interest until March 31. The pre-bid conference is scheduled for April 7, while the deadline for bid submissions will be on May 4.
Last month, SMC Global Power Holdings subsidiary South Premiere Power Corporation bagged the power supply agreement (PSA) for MERALCO’s 170MW peaking power requirement for the summer. The PSA covers the period from February 26 to July 25, which includes election day on May 9.
