Meralco’s retail electricity supplier, MPower, has renewed its partnership with Allegro MicroSystems Philippines Inc., enabling the firm to transition entirely to renewable energy for its operations.
This move marks an important milestone in Allegro’s long-term sustainability efforts, allowing the company to meet its 2030 clean energy target ahead of schedule by a large margin.
The renewed Retail Electricity Supply Agreement strengthens a partnership between Allegro and MPower that has lasted over 12 years. Allegro’s manufacturing operations in Parañaque will now be fully powered by renewable energy provided by MPower under the new terms.
“Together, we’ve weathered periods of both stability and disruption with unwavering alignment and mutual trust,” said Ronald Dela Rosa, Allegro Senior Director – Controller. “MPower has enabled us to achieve our five-year sustainability target early, accelerating our timeline. This marks a major milestone in our advocacy and stand to lead a more responsible semiconductor manufacturing.”
The agreement is expected to create measurable environmental benefits, in particular a significant reduction in carbon emissions. It also reflects both companies’ alignment with international and local standards for efficient and sustainable energy use.
“MPower’s provision of 100% renewable energy has enabled Allegro to realize its 2030 sustainability target at its manufacturing sites ahead of schedule,” said Redel M. Domingo, First Vice President and Head of MPower. “This success highlights the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to clean energy transformation.”
MPower serves contestable customers—all the way to top corporations—within Meralco’s franchise area. With more than 25% of the competitive retail electricity market share in its region, MPower continues to grow its renewable energy portfolio in response to ever-increasing customer demand for cleaner power sources and supply.
Allegro MicroSystems, a global player in magnetic sensing and power integrated circuits, has committed to enhancing efficiency, performance, and sustainability across a wide range of industries such as automotive, clean energy, and industrial automation.
