Mackay Green Energy Inc. (MGE) has launched its international arm, Mackay Green Energy Global (MGEG), to expand biomass and agricultural development projects across Asia and Africa. The company said the new division will lead large-scale initiatives aimed at converting idle agricultural lands into biomass production sites.
MGEG will implement its programs in partnership with SFT Bright Africa, AFEL Group of Mauritius, and Agromate AI. According to MGE, the collaboration will integrate green financing, smart agriculture systems, and biomass technology to support the rollout of renewable energy and sustainable farming projects.
The central component of the initiative is the deployment of Mackay Bana Grass, a high-yield energy crop that MGE plans to cultivate on idle or underutilized land. The company noted that the Philippines has more than 3 million hectares of such land and said MGEG intends to introduce semi-automated and fully automated systems to improve production efficiency.
MGE’s modeling estimates that every 1,000 hectares of Bana Grass can generate 300 direct jobs and 600 indirect jobs through plantation operations, logistics, and energy production. If 10% of the country’s idle land—around 300,000 hectares—were utilized, the company said more than 270,000 jobs could be created nationwide. It added that the program could contribute about USD 1 billion annually to the economy through reduced energy costs, exportable green energy credits, and growth in related industries.
The company also plans to introduce modular biomass power units that would allow local government units (LGUs) to convert Bana Grass into electricity. MGE said these systems have the potential to lower electricity costs by up to 30% and support local energy independence. The company will also implement a Carbon Credit Benefit Framework to quantify carbon sequestration and allocate verified credits to farmers, LGUs, and investors.
MGE said the establishment of MGEG is part of its broader effort to advance reforestation, renewable energy production, and sustainable land development through technology-driven solutions and international partnerships.
MGE is a renewable energy and agricultural development company that focuses on biomass production and land revitalization using Mackay Bana Grass, its proprietary high-yield energy crop. The firm develops systems intended to support clean power generation, modernized farming operations, and carbon credit creation.
