Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN) has signed two power supply agreements (PSAs) with newly licensed retail electricity supplier (RES) EvoEnergi Inc. to deliver both conventional and renewable energy delivery to contestable market customers.
The agreements were formalized through MGEN’s subsidiaries, MThermal and MGreen, and are expected to supply enough power to serve around 62,000 households. This mix of thermal and renewable energy reflects a push toward diversification in the retail electricity market.
“This partnership with EvoEnergi reflects the strength of MGEN’s diversified energy portfolio. By combining conventional and renewable sources, we are helping meet the evolving needs of the retail electricity market while supporting the country’s transition to a cleaner and more secure energy future,” said MGEN President and CEO Emmanuel V. Rubio.
EvoEnergi, affiliated with D&L Industries, Inc., enters the energy market with a strong industrial legacy. It is among the first RES firms in the Philippines to implement the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), which allows multiple customers to consolidate demand for more competitive energy access.
The agreements also extend MGEN’s renewable energy reach beyond government programs such as the Green Energy Option and Green Energy Auction Programs, while helping EvoEnergi meet its Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) obligations.
“With our expanding customer base, this partnership provides access to a more diversified and sustainable energy supply. It solidifies our shared commitment to sustainability and forging a better future for the Philippines,” said Alvin Lao, President and CEO of D&L Industries, Inc.
