MGEN Marks 15 Years with New Identity and Expanded Portfolio

Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN) has unveiled a refreshed corporate identity as it marks 15 years in power generation, uniting its portfolio under “One MGEN” and reinforcing its commitment to secure, affordable, and sustainable energy.

The rebrand, launched during One MGEN Day on August 15, aligns with the company’s new mission of Powering a Better Tomorrow and its vision to lead the Philippines’ energy transition while fueling regional growth.

The rebrand integrates MGEN’s operations into three business lines:

  • MGEN Thermal, which continues to provide dependable baseload capacity
  • MGEN Natural Gas, positioned as a transition fuel to complement renewables
  • MGEN Renewables, which expands solar and battery energy storage projects

MGEN Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan called the rebrand timely as the company scales up. “We look forward to the next five years and I think this will be golden years for MGEN. Congratulations!” he said during the unveiling.

President and CEO Emmanuel V. Rubio emphasized that the company’s evolution reflects a unified direction across all energy platforms. “MGEN is more than just power plants and projects – we are an organization moving with one purpose. When we act as One MGEN, we can deliver reliable energy today while building the solutions that will power a better tomorrow,” he said.

At present, MGEN operates a 5,068-megawatt (MW) portfolio spanning the Philippines and Singapore. Its assets include thermal and natural gas facilities, seven solar plants in Luzon with a combined capacity of 400 MWac, investments in Singapore’s PacificLight Power, a 40.2% stake in the Philippines’ first LNG facility in Batangas, and the upcoming MTerra Solar, billed as the world’s largest integrated solar and battery storage project.

With a stronger presence in renewables, transition fuels, and baseload generation, MGEN said the rebrand positions it to meet rising electricity demand while enabling the country’s shift to a cleaner grid.
