Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corp. (MIESCOR), the engineering and infrastructure arm of giant utility firm Manila Electric Company, is exploring a partnership with MORE Power to modernize and expand energy distribution networks in Iloilo and Negros. The proposed collaboration includes power infrastructure upgrades, workforce training, and a Utility Attachment Office to address the growing energy demands of these provinces.

MIESCOR executives recently met with MORE Power leadership, signaling a strong commitment to strengthening the region’s power grid. Representing  MIESCOR during the meeting were key executives including company President Richard Ochava, Chief Operations Officer Wilfredo Bernardo, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Business Unit Head Sam Montoya. MORE Power President and CEO Roel Castro and Chief Operations Officer Engr Bailey Del Castillo, meanwhile, represented the Razon-owned firm.

“We see a tremendous opportunity to work alongside MORE Power in their expansion plans for Iloilo and ongoing rehabilitation in Central Negros. Our expertise in power infrastructure development and rehabilitation perfectly aligns with their vision for a modern and reliable energy system,” said MIESCOR President Richard Ochava.

MIESCOR, a leading provider of engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance, and project management services, has successfully completed numerous power projects across the country, making it a strong potential partner in ensuring that MORE Power’s network upgrades meet industry best practices and efficiency standards.

Meanwhile, Bernardo said the proposed partnership will also involve sharing of expertise and best practices to MORE Power’s linemen through a series of comprehensive training programs that will elevate their skills. “Investing in our workforce is essential for a safe and efficient power system,” he added.

Another key component of the partnership is the establishment of a Utility Attachment Office, which will manage the attachment of telephone and cable company lines to electric distribution poles. This initiative aims to institutionalize the campaign against hazardous and unsightly “spaghetti wiring” in Iloilo City, improving public safety and urban aesthetics.

“We at MORE and Negros Power are truly grateful for MIESCOR’s interest. Their expertise in the power sector is highly respected. We believe that their involvement would be invaluable as we expand and modernize our operations in Iloilo and Negros provinces,” Castro commented on the future partnership.

“This partnership holds great promise for achieving even greater progress in providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions for our communities,” he Castro.
