Iloilo City’s distribution utility MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) has been named CSR Company of the Year at the 2025 Asia CEO Awards, underscoring the firm’s growing leadership in community-driven energy initiatives.
The recognition, conferred on October 14 at the Manila Marriott Grand Ballroom, places MORE Power at the forefront of corporate social responsibility in the country’s utility sector. The firm was cited for programs advancing environmental protection, livelihood creation, and youth development — areas that judges described as demonstrating measurable and lasting social impact.
“Corporate social responsibility is the gold standard for being recognized as a premier company in the Philippines,” said Janet Petilla, Vice President for Project Delivery at Innodata Knowledge Services, which was the category sponsor. “Companies dedicated to CSR are recognized for their integrity, attracting the best people, the most loyal customers. Their success proves that caring for the community and the nation is inseparable from corporate excellence.”
In acceptance of the honor, MORE Power said the recognition strengthens its resolve to pursue “pro-people and pro-environment CSR initiatives” that promote community empowerment and sustainable growth.
Since taking over Iloilo City’s power distribution operations in 2020, MORE Power has been expanding its outreach programs alongside network modernization efforts. Its initiatives have become part of a broader corporate agenda linking reliable power service with local development.
The utility topped a competitive shortlist that included AXA Philippines, Concentrix Philippines, Gardenia Bakeries (Philippines), Hewlett Packard Enterprise, PLDT and Smart, and Robinsons Land Corporation, among others.
As Philippine utilities face increasing pressure to align operations with social and environmental goals, what lessons can others draw from MORE Power’s approach to CSR?
