Megaworld is accelerating the electrification of its CityLink bus fleet with the deployment of electric buses in McKinley Hill and Newport City, following a partnership with Movem Electric, Inc., the electric mobility arm of Meralco. The program, which includes additional rollouts in Uptown Bonifacio and Visayas townships and nine more units scheduled by 2026, marks a major step in integrating e-buses into regular operations across Megaworld’s estates.
The program began with the first e-bus deployed in McKinley Hill earlier this year, with another unit scheduled for Newport City by December. Movem and Megaworld plan to deploy additional e-buses in Uptown Bonifacio and several Visayas townships, supported by a long-term roadmap to fully electrify the developer’s bus fleet. Movem is also preparing EV charging infrastructure to maximize fleet uptime and ensure smoother operations as more units are added.

The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of residents, workers, and daily commuters traveling to and from Megaworld townships.
Movem Chief Operating Officer Maria Francesca Defensor expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the transition. “We are committed to continue supporting Megaworld to accelerate their electric mobility initiatives. It is through working with like-minded partners that we can drive the Philippines’ journey towards cleaner and greener transportation,” she said.
