The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is set to activate its Overall Command Center on July 28, 2025. This action is part of its preparations to ensure the reliability and security of the country’s power transmission system during this year’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).
In a statement, NGCP said contingency measures are in place to monitor the grid and respond swiftly to any disturbances. Key operational units, including System Operations and Operations and Maintenance, will be fully manned throughout the day. Line crews, engineers, pilots, and other technical personnel will be strategically deployed to NGCP substations to quickly address any potential issues.
The Overall Command Center will be operational from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. NGCP will issue substation and transmission line status updates to the public every four hours.
“Our Integrated Disaster Action Plan (IDAP) prescribes relevant measures to ensure the readiness of all power transmission facilities to be affected by emergencies during important national events. NGCP assures the public of reliable power transmission services during this significant event,” the company stated.
The SONA is among the country’s most high-profile annual events, requiring heightened coordination among key infrastructure and public safety sectors.
