Nueva Ecija backs world’s largest solar-battery project led by MGEN

Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio “Oyie” Umali has expressed full support for Meralco PowerGen Corporation’s (MGEN) flagship MTerra Solar Project, touted to become the world’s largest integrated solar and battery energy storage facility.

Developed through MGEN’s renewable arm, MGEN Renewable Energy, Inc. (MGreen), the project spans Nueva Ecija and Bulacan and has been designated by the Department of Energy as an Energy Project of National Significance. A substantial portion of the solar panels will be installed in Nueva Ecija, solidifying the province’s emerging role as a clean energy hub.

“The MTerra Solar Project is a symbol of what’s possible when both private and public sectors work together. MGEN is glad to work alongside the Province of Nueva Ecija as it helps illuminate the path toward a brighter, cleaner energy future. Governor Umali’s instrumental support not only accelerates the progress of the MTerra Solar Project but also reinforces the province’s role in shaping a more sustainable energy landscape for our country,” said MGreen President and CEO Dennis B. Jordan.

MGEN emphasized that the project will contribute to the country’s energy security, emissions reduction goals, and green growth trajectory.
