Maria Luisa V. Alvendia, Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer of Meralco, has been named to Supply Chain Digital’s 2025 Top 100 Women list, the only Filipina executive to earn a spot this year.
The global recognition highlights Alvendia’s leadership in transforming supply chain operations through sustainable procurement, ESG integration, and digital innovation at the country’s largest electric distribution utility.
With over three decades of industry experience, Alvendia was cited for steering Meralco’s procurement strategy toward international standards while embedding sustainability at every stage of the value chain. Supply Chain Digital noted:
“As CSCO of the Philippines’ largest electric distribution utility, she expertly manages procurement transformation to embrace global practices whilst steering the company towards a sustainable supply chain future.”
Alvendia led the development and implementation of the Meralco Supplier Sustainability Scorecard (MS3)—a framework that evaluates vendors based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Global Reporting Initiative Standards.
The MS3 framework earned a Gold Stevie Award at the 2024 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards under the “Building Sustainable Supply Chains” category. It is now a central tool for supplier assessment and accountability across Meralco’s operations.
“This recognition is not only a personal milestone but also a testament to the strategic value of supply chain management in advancing business sustainability,” Alvendia said. “With technology and sustainability rapidly transforming supply chain management, it is imperative for us to adopt and embrace these developments for a more resilient, efficient, and responsible organization.”
She added that challenges in navigating complexity should be met with consistency, transparency, and stakeholder alignment—a mindset that has guided Meralco’s procurement transformation in recent years.
Alvendia has also led meaningful supplier engagements and elevated procurement standards within the organization, aligning them with Meralco’s core values of excellence, integrity, and service.
The Top 100 Women in Supply Chain list honors leaders from industries including utilities, telecommunications, manufacturing, and consumer goods, recognizing those who are reshaping supply chain ecosystems through innovation and leadership.
