PERC eyes 500 MW by 2029

PETROENERGY Resources Corporation (PERC) is gearing up to boost its energy capacity to around 500 megawatts (MW) by 2028 to 2029.

In a report by Business World, PERC Senior Vice-President for Corporate Services Arlan P. Profeta revealed that the company is set to boost its existing capacity of 145 megawatts (MW) by another 100 MW. With future expansion plans, the firm anticipates reaching a capacity of around 500 MW by 2028-2029.

Profeta added that the firm is still looking into taking part in the Department of Energy’s (DOE) upcoming Green Energy Auction (GEA). 

The DOE looking to carry out two rounds of the Green Energy Auction (GEA) this year, targeting diverse renewable energy (RE) technologies. This initiative aims to enhance the role of RE in the national energy mix by utilizing a competitive selection process (CSP).

In April, PetroWind Energy, Inc. (PWEI) expanded its portfolio as Phase 2 of the 13.2 MW Nabas wind power project began contributing to the grid. This phase will add six more turbines to complement the existing 18 turbines from Phase 1, situated south of the 36 MW Nabas 1 wind farm.

Meanwhile, in May, PERC’s Dagohoy Green Energy Corporation began the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels for its 27 MW direct current solar power project in Dagohoy, Bohol.
