Petron Corporation, the Philippines’ largest oil refining and marketing company, has been recognized in TIME and Statista’s 2025 ranking of the top 500 companies shaping business in the Asia-Pacific region, securing the No. 216 spot. The ranking, which evaluates companies based on financial performance, employee satisfaction, and sustainability transparency, underscores Petron’s critical role in ensuring energy security while advancing sustainable business practices.

Petron’s parent company, San Miguel Corporation (SMC), and its sister firm, Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI), also secured spots on the list, ranking No. 85 and No. 345, respectively. SMC’s current position makes it the second highest-ranked Philippine company on the list.

SMC was recognized for its nation-building initiatives, sustainability efforts, and corporate leadership, while GSMI was acknowledged for its excellence in the food and beverage industry, further reinforcing their global competitiveness.

SMC Chairman and CEO Ramon S. Ang welcomed the global recognition, emphasizing that the achievement underscores the company’s dedication to business excellence and corporate social responsibility.

“This recognition sets the stage for an even stronger 2025. It continues to prove that Filipino companies can compete on the global stage and make meaningful impact beyond business,” Ang said.

Parent firm SMC received global recognition in 2024, ranking No. 463 in TIME’s World’s Best Companies and No. 89 in Forbes’ Best Employers, making it the highest-ranked Philippine firm in the latter’s top 100.
