Power Philippines’ Power Podcast has earned a spot among the winners of the 21st Philippine Quill Awards held on August 27, 2025 at the Manila Hotel. Produced by multi-award-winning PR firm Comm&Sense Inc., the podcast received a Quill Merit Award in the Audio/Visual category for creating a fresh platform where energy issues meet everyday conversations.
Power Podcast was launched to simplify technical energy topics and make relevant information accessible to wider audiences. Instead of long policy briefs or industry forums, Power Podcast delivers the same insights through dynamic conversations with experts, streamed online across Facebook, YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcast, and other digital platforms.
From January 2023 to June 2024, the program featured some of the country’s most respected energy leaders, guided by podcast host Nica Roque. She steered conversations with Alexander Ablaza, President of the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2), who unpacked the role of efficiency in driving down costs and emissions; Atty. Jose “Jay” Layug Jr., former Department of Energy Undersecretary and a leading voice in energy law, who shared clear-eyed views on renewable energy policies; and Celso Caballero III, President and COO of AboitizPower’s Coal Business Unit, who spoke about innovations reshaping conventional power plants.
These episodes resonated with a wide range of listeners from policymakers and industry executives to students, advocates, and everyday consumers curious about how energy issues affect their lives. One discussion on energy efficiency alone drew more than 67,000 views on Facebook, showing the appetite for expert insights delivered in an accessible way.
Beyond simplifying technical discussions, Power Podcast highlights issues tied to the Philippines’ renewable energy ambitions, investment needs, and policy directions. By opening these conversations to a wider audience, it not only builds awareness but also encourages participation in shaping the transition toward a cleaner and more reliable energy future for the country.
The Philippine Quill Awards, organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines, has been honoring excellence in business communication for over 20 years. It is the local counterpart of IABC’s global Gold Quill Awards, which recognize outstanding communication programs and strategies worldwide.
