The Razon-led Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc. (Prime Infra), through its unit, Solar Tanauan Corporation, has broke ground for its 140-megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Batangas and Cavite.
Set for commercial operations by the end of the year, the solar plant will have a total generation capacity of 202 gigawatt-hours which could provide power to 84,000 households and supersede 100,000 tons of coal annually.

It is a reminder of the importance of collaborating together towards a common goal, a shared vision and how collective efforts can make a transformative difference,” Prime Infra said in a statement.
Embassy of People’s Republic of China in the Philippines Minister Counsellor Yang Guoliang, for his part, highlighted the cooperation of China and the Philippines in the energy sector.
“The Philippines has sufficient sunlight and great potential for solar energy development. The development of photovoltaic projects not only alleviate the shortage of electricity consumption, optimize the energy structure, but also promote the employment of residents and improve people’s livelihood and well-being,” Yang said.
Prime Infra currently has a gross installed capacity of 5,700 MW of solar, and 4,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) energy storage systems in its portfolio.
