Prime Integrated Waste Solutions (PWS), the waste management arm of Prime Infra, has delivered 6.2 tons of baled PET bottles to PETValue Philippines Corp.—a move that not only reduces landfill waste but also cuts energy use by displacing virgin plastic production.
The delivery came from PWS’ materials recovery facility (MRF) in Cebu and marks a major milestone in its PET recovery program. The recipient, PETValue, is a joint venture of Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines and Indorama Ventures.
PETValue operates the country’s largest bottle-to-bottle recycling facility. It is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies to ensure the safest and most advanced recycling process for PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles, commonly used for packaging drinks like water, soda, and juice, as well as other food products.
“Resource recovery is a key pillar in our sustainable waste management strategy,” said Cara Peralta, Market Sector Lead for Waste at Prime Infra. “By efficiently reclaiming PET bottles, we not only reduce waste but also create measurable environmental value that supports our broader sustainability goals.”
Industry data shows that recycling PET can reduce energy use by up to 60% compared to producing new plastic from raw materials. By recovering plastic at scale, PWS helps shrink the carbon and energy footprint of the entire packaging supply chain.
The company plans to scale up PET bottle deliveries in the coming months, including replicating the effort at its Pampanga facility. The expansion supports Prime Infra’s broader mission to develop sustainable infrastructure across energy, water, and waste sectors.
Furthering its sustainability agenda, PWS also provides verified plastic credits to help companies offset their plastic usage—a system modeled after carbon credit schemes used to account for emissions.
“Whether through diverting plastic bottles from the waste stream or enabling plastic credit offsets, our focus remains the same: maximizing the value of recovered materials and helping our partners meet their sustainability goals,” Peralta said.
Prime Infra, led by Filipino businessman Enrique K. Razon Jr., focuses on building assets that address urgent sustainability needs. With integrated solutions in energy, clean water, and waste management, the company is enabling Philippine industries and communities to move closer to their decarbonization and ESG goals.
