RCBC and Alternergy Expand Partnership with New Solar and Wind Project Financing

Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) has reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with Alternergy through the signing of fresh project financing for two new renewable energy initiatives.

The agreements cover a PHP 1.033 billion loan for the 28-megawatt peak (MWp) Solana Solar Project in Balsik, Hermosa, Bataan, and a PHP5.335 billion loan for the 64 MW Alabat Wind Farm in Alabat, Quezon. These projects mark the fourth and fifth financing partnerships between RCBC and Alternergy. This raises the total renewable energy capacity funded to more than 160 MW.

For over a decade, RCBC has backed Alternergy’s initiatives. This started with the Pililla Wind Farm in 2014, followed by the Solana Solar Farm and Alabat Wind Farm respectively, among many others. RCBC President and CEO Reggie Cariaso said the continuing collaboration represents “important milestones to Alternergy’s Road to 500 MW by 2026.”

“Our partnership accounts for 160 MW of renewable energy capacity—important milestones to Alternergy’s Road to 500 MW by 2026. We look forward to your continued partnership, trust, and friendship as we embark on a shared mission of creating a cleaner and more sustainable future for the country,” Cariaso said.

Alternergy Chairman Vince Perez emphasized RCBC’s role as one of the company’s earliest supporters, recalling how the bank recognized its potential even when it was still starting.

“From the early days of Alternergy’s renewable energy journey to the present, we have been blessed with RCBC as a steadfast partner, providing financial support that has enabled us to grow and thrive. Back in 2014, you looked beyond our modest financial capital. Instead, you recognized one of Alternergy’s Five C’s of credit – character. You recognized what Alternergy could become,” Perez said.

RCBC Capital reiterated its commitment to backing Alternergy’s ambitious goal of 500 MW by 2026 and 1 gigawatt by 2030. It stressed how strong partnerships can help accelerate the Philippines’ clean energy transition.

Through these new agreements, Alternergy and RCBC continue to align efforts toward delivering not just reliable power, but also a sustainable legacy for future generations.
