Seashell Petroleum Energy Corporation has launched its state-of-the-art oil depot in Pitalo, San Fernando, Cebu, positioning the province as an emerging energy hub in the Visayas. Beyond fueling vehicles, the 3.6-hectare facility is set to drive economic growth by attracting industries and creating opportunities across the region.

The depot, with a current capacity of 25.9 million liters across three storage tanks, is built to scale up to 130 million liters. This flexibility ensures Cebu can meet rising fuel demands, including plans for aviation fuel facilities to support regional airlines. The project, led by Insular Oil Corporation Chairman Emeritus Chito Villavicencio, reflects three years of meticulous planning and a vision for sustainable progress.

“We hope that together, we will be able to move forward for the economic benefit of San Fernando, along with its nearby towns and cities,” Villavicencio said at the inauguration. “We aim not only to provide jobs but opportunities, because once you have fuel in a city, there will be other industries that would come.”

Local leaders echoed this optimism. “For Seashell Energy—congratulations. But on the other hand, congratulations to San Fernando because you chose to be here,” said Mayor Maita Canoy. “Thank you for choosing San Fernando, and rest assured that the LGU will always remain business-friendly.”

The depot’s strategic location and robust infrastructure strengthen Cebu’s role in the national energy supply chain while fostering local partnerships. Attendees at the blessing ceremony, including Vice Mayor Ricci Reluya, Former Mayor Lakambini Reluya, and barangay officials, highlighted the community’s stake in this milestone.

Seashell’s arrival is more than an energy win—it’s a catalyst for San Fernando’s transformation into a commercial powerhouse, promising jobs and industrial growth. As Cebu’s energy landscape evolves, the depot sets a foundation for long-term security and regional development.
