Sungrow Power Supply Co., a global leader in solar inverters and energy storage systems, is intensifying its push into the Southeast Asian market—unveiling new residential and commercial technologies at its 2025 Southeast Asia Distribution Summit held July 17–19 on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam.
The summit gathered over 100 distribution partners, service providers, and industry experts, focusing on collaborative growth in a region experiencing surging energy demand and increasing emphasis on renewable generation. The event’s theme, “Robust Power Robust Future”, underpinned Sungrow’s strategy to deepen regional partnerships and provide tailored, localized solutions for fast-evolving energy markets.
A key highlight was the launch of the new MG5/6/8/10RL Residential Energy Storage System (ESS), designed for households facing high power costs and frequent grid instability. The system supports seamless backup switching within 4ms, operates at full power even at 45 °C, and features active PID recovery. With capacities ranging from 5kW to 10kW, the MG Series is targeted at Southeast Asia’s rapidly urbanizing populations.
Also spotlighted was an integrated Commercial & Industrial (C&I) PV safety solution combining Sungrow’s C&I inverter with the SR20D-M Rapid Shutdown Device and SP1400D Optimizer. The system adheres to stringent UL1741/3741 safety standards and features patented technologies for rapid voltage drop (to under 30V within 20 seconds), simplified installation, and long-distance PLC communication.
According to Sungrow, this system has already seen its largest regional deployment in the Philippines, powering the country’s first megawatt-level logistics park using rapid shutdown tech.
In a further bid to address rising C&I energy storage needs, Sungrow introduced the PowerStack 255CS, a 125kW/257kWh liquid-cooled energy storage system capable of scaling up to 514kWh. The system offers 90% round-trip efficiency and a 20-year design life, meeting global safety standards like UL9540 and NFPA codes.
“Currently, we have established a comprehensive business layout, covering utility, C&I, and residential scenarios. This has laid a solid foundation for our long-term investment and development,” said James Wu, Senior Vice President of Sungrow. “Backed by our powerful R&D team of 7,000 professionals at headquarters, we will continue to innovate in products and technologies, offering our partners the most comprehensive and competitive product solutions.”
Wu emphasized the company’s “One Brand, One Solution” approach, integrating all system components to streamline deployment and improve reliability. With 15 years of presence in Southeast Asia, Sungrow plans to expand its local footprint for faster support and better customer experience.
For Philippine energy sector stakeholders, Sungrow’s focus on tailored residential solutions, C&I integration, and energy storage underscores the growing relevance of distributed, modular, and resilient energy systems. With the country facing frequent outages, expensive grid power, and rapid solar adoption, technologies like Sungrow’s rapid shutdown system and scalable ESS solutions could significantly influence future project designs.
